Micor Sprinkler Systems, Inc. is a minority and service disabled veteran owned company which was formed in 1985 by William and Sandra Baines, using personal savings as operating capital. The couple purchased a Ford truck and a Ditch Witch plow, hired one laborer and operated the company out of their home. Installing residential lawn irrigation systems, the business grew mainly through referrals. The company prospered, and over the next several years had the client base grow to well over three thousand, which includes many commercial and government contracts.
In 1996 Micor obtained certification as an 8(a) company through the Small Business Administration. During the 8(a) certification period Micor performed numerous contracts for the United States Government. The company has since graduated from the 8(a) program. Micor prides itself on quality work and, therefore, the company continues to enjoy the benefit of referrals from satisfied customers.
The headquarters and warehouse are located in Portsmouth, VA. During the landscaping season Micor has an average of 40 employees.
Today, Micor has the capability to perform all services on a large scale: landscaping installation, irrigation systems, grounds maintenance, tree removal, concrete and brick work, water well drilling, sewer systems, drainage/water supply, demolition and excavation.
We no longer need to complete a job through subcontractors. We have strived to become a full service company and today we have reached our goal.
In the words of our CEO,
"if there is something to be done,
we can do it, and do it right."
